Ill Mind Of Hopsin 5 - Hopsin

PLEASE. If you haven’t heard this yet, listen to it.

Here’s the lyrics if you can’t keep up.

“Look at you, a real nigga, thinking your life’s cool
Girls used to turn me down for guys who were like you
Til you grab their heart and shove a spearhead right through
Then they regret it because it wasn’t the right move
Your real nigga talk seems bogus
A real nigga don’t brag about being real as long as he knows it
And his future doesn’t seem hopeless
A real nigga stays out of jail, handles shit, and he keeps focused”
Hopsin

OH MY GOODNESS.

Ill Mind Of Hopsin 5 is SO good. And I’m not even a Hopsin fan. But I am a rap fan and the lyrics to this masterpiece are just…wow. Listen to it.

Sad part is, this should hit home for 1/4 of my school and every weed/swag blog on tumblr.

No, Not In This Order, I Have No Order For Them Because They Are All Very Talented Artist… I’m Not Asking Anyone To Agree With This, But These Are My Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist… I Love Their Delivery, Their Wordplay And Schemes, Punchlines, The Metaphors They Use In Every Song… They All Have Something Significant To Say That I Can Relate To, That Is Partly Why They Are My Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist.

Anonymous asked: OFWGKTA is an incredibly violent, angry, and insensitive group. How can you support that?

I don’t support the messages they portray in their music, I support the fact that they are incredibly talented young artists who do all their own producing, writing, etc. and that they’re not afraid to combat the American mainstream media. Plus some a lot of their wordplay and lyrics are truly genius.

I’m also a fan of the 90s group, Niggaz Wit Attitudes, an insanely misogynistic, offense, insensitive group. However, I don’t disrespect women, curse out gay people, or do any of the other bad things O.F. and N.W.A. rap about (although, I find Earl and Tyler’s religion disses hilarious because I’m atheist and there’s very few openly atheist mainstream artists like them).

I honestly don’t think the rappers genuinely believe in what they rap about. Being controversial and offensive does sell records though. I mean look at Ice Cube, one of the founding members of N.W.A., he’s softer than Jello pudding now!

Rap is a form of poetry. And I don’t think it should always be taken literally. Edgar Allen Poe’s Annabel Lee is a masterpiece but people know better than to become necrophiliacs just because Poe wrote it. Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken is a poetic classic but people know better than to literally take the road less traveled in the middle of the woods. That’s how you get kidnapped/murdered/mauled!

Rap is poetry and poetry is meant to be interpreted. I enjoy rap because I appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into producing and writing, the talent behind great flow and freestyles blows my mind, and learning the double (sometimes triple) meanings of rap lyrics and interpreting them is awe inspiring. SO, I don’t support the views they preach, but I do like their work, think they are incredibly talented, and I am a big fan.
