My rant on teen sex/pregnancy:
Hi. Okay so this about to get kinda ranty…not really…just a tad opinionated (like everything else I post). But yeah.
I don’t like the way our society treats premarital sex, more specifically, teen sex (and teen pregnancy). As far as teen sex goes, we’re the only species on the planet that forces themselves to wait years after sexual maturity just for it to be legal to have sex. I hope most people realize that humans reach sexual maturity anywhere from around 12-15. True, they’re not done growing yet, but hey, a lot of other animals aren’t when they reach sexual maturity. And that’s gonna be my argument. A biological one. I understand why we have laws for a high age of consent, but people have to understand that teens are going to go on their biological impulses nonetheless. Plus, us humans have been blessed by evolution with an amazing orgasm (incentive for a 12+ year wait and 9 month gestation period) so it’s kinda hard to resist. But don’t ever fucking say that “if you’re mature enough to have sex, you’re mature enough to support a child” cause that’s bullshit. Not being ready to support a child has little to nothing to do with maturity because that’s true, most people who have sex should be mature enough to have child…you know…if they had any money. Not having enough money is different from being too immature. You can’t do anything without a H.S. diploma, which you won’t get until you’re 17/18. You’re considered a minor until you’re 18. And the way “teenage parent” looks in society will prevent you from getting any decent job for years. Having to be a mother and father under these 3rd class conditions is a living hell for those who have to go through it. I also don’t like the way teen pregnancy has been bastardized by things like MTV. It shouldn’t be laughed at like it is because it’s not funny. Do you know how fucking scary it is to go through a pregnancy scare? And no, not because you weren’t safe. When condoms are the only form of contraception most teens can get, it can get pretty nerve-racking. And when it comes to emergency bc pills, you have to be 17 anyway. Safe sex with condoms isn’t a 100% guarantee that you won’t get pregnant. And women (teenage girls, at least) have a tendency to be kinda paranoid about things like pregnancy, and that paranoia can spread to the guy in an instant considering it’s not even their body so they have to go off of what the girl says. I’ve literally gotten gray hairs from a pregnancy scare. You can think it’s “immoral” if you’d like but don’t you dare fucking condemn a teenager for acting on a natural biological impulse, being safe, and getting pregnant because that’s no better than gay-bashing.
